Back to school eco style✏️

I don’t know about you, but for us September always feels like a fresh start. Even if you left education years ago, the beginning of the academic year is a great time for a refresh. Switch up your routine to more eco-friendly options when purchasing for this upcoming season.

Unfinished notebook: No need to purchase a whole new notepad if your old one still has pages left. The most eco-friendly option is to use every page.

Refurbished laptop: Electric waste is getting larger every year. 70% of the energy used by a laptop is in the manufacturing process. Considering the strain on our environment laptops are often used for a relatively short amount of time. Give them a longer life and reuse.

Vegan snacks: Animal agriculture is responsible for up to 91 per cent of the destruction of the Amazon rainforest! Don’t support this, eat more plant based foods.

Second hand uniform: 350,000 tonnes, that’s around £140 million worth of used but still wearable clothing goes to landfill in the UK every year. Our pennies have power. Choose to reuse clothing and support your local community as opposed to huge cooperation’s that rely on slave labour and put a strain on our planet.

Reusable lunch box / water bottle : One year in school = 190 packed lunches. Day by day our waste doesn’t feel like a lot but the small swaps and changes are easy with high impact.

Second hand calculator: When e-waste goes to landfill, the toxins seep into our environment causing harm to plants, animals and humans.

Walk/public transport: Walking to school is such a luxury, if you can, do it.

Majority of these tips actually save you money. Helping our planet doesn’t have to be a burden on your wallet it can save you pennies.

Some of you might still be doing home learning. Make sure to keep your WFH set up clean by using our eco-friendly cleaning products.
