We have been making plastic-free and sustainable cleaning products for 5 years now. So far, we have saved 91 tonnes of plastic from landfill or incineration.
91% of plastic waste doesn’t get recycled. Because of this we believe the most sustainable option is to reuse plastic that already exists.
Our water soluble sachets can be refilled into any bottles our customers have previously bought. It’s a simple concept. Customers DROP the sachet into an existing bottle, FILL the bottle with tap water and SHAKE to dissolve and start cleaning.

We are proud to be Made in Britain certified. The whole process from product development, manufacturing, packing and posting all takes place from our factory in the West Midlands. This makes the carbon footprint of our products incredibly low.
We wanted our packaging to be as planet friendly as the sachets inside. Our boxes and labels are made from recycled and recyclable cardboard/paper. Every part of our packaging can be popped either into the compost or a recycling bin making it officially zero waste.
We aim to reduce single-use plastic from our customer’s daily lives. We want to make eco-cleaning easy, accessible and affordable to everyone.
Our Vision: To end the need for single-use plastic cleaning bottles
All of our products are vegan and contain no animal derived ingredients. They are not tested on animals and we do not collaborate with businesses who do. Our products use all sustainably sourced active ingredients, as well as pure essential oils for our fragrances wherever possible, meaning that once diluted over 99% of the product is natural ingredients.
As our packaging is so small, we use letterbox delivery. Our customers don’t have to wait for the postman or lug heavy bottles back from the supermarket.
We believe that our concentrated water-soluble products are the best refill cleaning option. Other eco-friendly cleaning products have more waste. Whether it’s a glass bottle or a paper packet. Water soluble sachets require no additional packaging and there is nothing customers need to send back to us.
Our standard sachets are 7.5cm long and our packaging is tiny. Innovative concentrated cleaning like this saves space on storage and transport which of course is far better for the planet. All packaging and suppliers are sourced from manufacturers local to our factory making the carbon footprint of our packaging super small.

It all started with our chemist Alex. After working with industrial bulk cleaning products for years he was frustrated with the lack of eco-friendly options. This is when he pitched and invented our water-soluble sachet. After two years of perfecting his formulas and investing in bespoke manufacturing equipment, Iron & Velvet was born.
We often get asked about where our name comes from: Iron represents our industrial and manufacturing roots. Velvet represents the eco-friendly, softer direction Alex has taken the business.
It’s been over 5 years since we first launched, and our original 7 products are still loved by so many of our customers. We now have 20+ products on our website, all formulated and manufactured in our factory in Dudley. Alex now has a custom lab where he creates loads of cool products for us.

I tried both Smol sprays and iron and velvet at the same time and I can say without hesitation say that Iron and Velvet ones are better.
They also offer antibacterial options where Smol doesn’t and the fragrances are stronger and nicer.
I find a lot of eco-friendly or ‘green’ options frequently come with a hefty price tag and compromised quality but these are reasonably priced and really great products.
