Dudley’s Got Talent… And It’s Plastic-Free

We’re thrilled to share that Dudley’s MP, Sonia Kumar, has ditched plastic and gone green with Iron & Velvet! That’s right, someone from parliament is the biggest fan of our eco-friendly cleaning products.

We first met Sonia at a local networking event,  where she was genuinely impressed to learn that a Dudley based business was leading the way in manufacturing plastic-free cleaning products. This initial conversation led to an exciting opportunity for us to visit the Labour Party’s offices. During our visit we had the chance to showcase our range of sustainable cleaning products to her team.

We’re proud to say that Sonia’s office now exclusively uses Iron & Velvet products for all their cleaning needs, an exciting step in our journey to make eco-conscious choices accessible.

Our partnership didn’t stop there. On International Women’s Day, Sonia featured us on her social media where we talking about the struggles for women in business and sustainable cleaning. Watch it here!

But the most incredible moment came just last week, Sonia mentioned us in Parliament! Yes you read that correctly, here is what she said:

“UK homes bin 1.7 billion pieces of plastic every week. Thanks to companies such as the British Dudley-based business Iron & Velvet, there are viable alternatives to using plastic in cleaning products. Would my right hon. Friend help encourage others in this place to ditch plastic, and could we have a debate about the importance of reducing plastic waste?”
